Crisis Prep Involves More Than a Plan @ Office of O’Neill and Associates

Successful crisis management recognizes that the manner in which an organization responds to the media is as important as the content of its response.  An organization that doesn’t handle reports well leaves in question its ability to manage the authorities and the victims.

Ultimately, successful crisis management greatly depends on having people share their problems, making those outside of their areas of responsibility aware at the earliest possible time of issues that could become public communications challenges.

Presenter: Hugh Drummond

Hugh’s expertise in media relations, corporate communications, crisis management and public affairs is gleaned from positions in the private sector, nonprofits, the United States Senate and several political campaigns.  Prior to joining O’Neill and Associates, Hugh was director of communications for the Massachusetts American Red Cross, and served as spokesperson on disaster relief operations including Hurricane Katrina, the Danvers (MA) chemical plant explosion and several major fires, storms and flood emergencies.

O’Neill and Associates’ Boston office is located at Thirty-One New Chardon Street, near the Massachusetts State House and Boston City Hall, a few minutes’ walk from North Station and Haymarket Station. Josh deBergeJosh deBerge, Director, National Communications & PR, Make-A-Wish® America, manages internal and external communication and serves as national spokesperson for Make-A-Wish. He supervises staff responsible for maintaining intranet operations; coordinating national media opportunities; developing nationwide campaigns; handling crisis communication; and strengthening brand reputation. Prior to joining Make-A-Wish in December 2011, Josh worked for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) where he led external affairs and crisis communication for large-scale national disasters. Josh also has a background in television, radio and print media.

Engaging a Mobile Workforce @ Webinar

In just four years, more than 72 percent of these workers will be mobile, tethered to their employers by little more than a smartphone.
